Treating Depression With Reiki
Depression has its main location in the base chakra, also called the “root” chakra, or chakra #1. It is located at the groin. This chakra relates to one’s will to live, and also the main necessities for a vital life: food, water, and sleep. Depression can be a symptom of severe imbalance in this chakra. Other chakra imbalances can also contribute to depression, such as the heart chakra (self-worth), and the second chakra (personal appreciation). The energy from every chakra interacts with each other, so the first chakra can respond to imbalances in the others.
Reiki energy helps to unblock chakras, allowing release of the things that are causing a stagnant energy flow. Reiki can also replenish a chakra which has been depleted. Depletion can happen if someone is bullied, for example, or has been abused. The heart chakra becomes damaged from these things, leading to a need for healing. Reiki can help release the damaging words and actions, and bring in nurturing, loving energy to replace the aspects that caused the damage. That loving energy flows into other chakras too. It becomes empowering, and restorative.
Reiki treatments allow people to “let go” of the worry, anger and emotional pain that usually are part of the experience of depression. The deep relaxation from Reiki sessions can provide the sense of well being and the restore a sense of purpose that is missing for people who are suffering from depression.
